The Gem of Kentucky is the premiere offering from 2XO. The only double barreled single barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey on the market. The barrels are exclusively selected by Dixon from his double barreled stocks of the high rye bourbon mash bill (35% rye) that spend a year in new charred oak barrels before bottling. It is a full-bodied, full-flavored expression that leans on Dixon’s unique double-barreling process for a richer and more viscous mouthfeel. The differing char levels on the secondary barreling allow complex flavors to develop and balance the spicy finish from the high rye distillate. 54% Alc.

Tasting notes: Each double barreled single barrel is unique. Some barrels are sweeter with notes of chocolate, cinnamon, and toasted marshmallows that flow into baking spices. Other barrels are more savory with notes of dark red fruits, nutmeg, and black pepper spice.

According to Private Label Distillery and spirits retailer Seelbach’s, this bourbon features the following characteristics: 

• Mash bill: 88% corn, 7% rye, and 5% malted barley.
• Proof: 140.9.
• Aging process: The whiskey is aged for eight years in 30-gallon, new charred barrels (char levels 4 and 5). It is then finished for an additional year in a 53-gallon, new char #1 heavy toasted barrel.
• Tasting notes: The blend offers a rich and complex palate with flavors of orchard fruits, warm spices, vanilla, blanched almonds, and toffee.

Smoke Wagon Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey

Our high rye content bourbon is aged in the heart of a century-old  brick warehouse. To ensure a unique and consistent flavor, barrels are hand selected to create a perfect blend that is smooth and at the same time bold and intense.

Released in 2016, our goal was to create a unique great tasting high rye content bourbon. The problem is that rye ages much faster than corn. So while our younger vintages had a big rye spice flavor (which we love) the mouth feel was too thin and it lacked the sweet, delicate complexity of a well aged spirit.  Our older vintages had the  smoothness and sweet notes that can only be achieved  by moving in and out of #4 char and caramelized oak for many, many years, but the nice rye spice had been aged out!  

The younger vintages maintain the bold spiciness of the rye, cut down on the tannins and keep it fruit forward.  The older vintage brings in a creamy mouth feel with sweet aromas and taste notes that only appear over time from aging in a barrel. We hope you enjoy drinking it as much as we enjoy making it.​

Nose : Balanced oak nose with hints of fruit and dried apricots.​ Taste : Initial sweet notes on the front of the tongue. Well balanced mouth feel with spicy notes including white pepper on the middle and back of the tongue from the younger vintage and high rye mash bill.  Good balance of sweet and oak flavors including hints of caramel (from the #4 charred barrels, caramelized wood sugar), fruit flavor and rye spice. Finishes smooth with no alcohol burn even at 100 proof.

Distilled from a traditional rye mash bill consisting of 51% rye, 45% corn, 4% barley.A high percentage of corn adds a nice rich sweetness that balances out the flavor notes of Rye’s big black pepper and cinnamon spice. Creating a flavor profile that starts off creamy, rich with fruit and candy flavor notes that has a big, bold, complex spicy finish that lingers for an eternity.

Buffalo Trace  Kosher RYE RECIPE

In partnership with the Chicago Rabbinical Council (cRc), Buffalo Trace Distillery produced this Rye Recipe Bourbon Whiskey. Made with the same high quality grains as Buffalo Trace Bourbon Whiskey, this Kosher spirit was aged in specifically designated Kosher barrels. Although not kosher for Passover, in order to avoid issues of Jewish ownership over Passover, these barrels were sold to a non-Jewish executive in a ceremony witnessed by a representative from the cRc. This Rye Recipe Bourbon was bottled at 94 proof after ensuring the bottling lines were cleaned beforehand and that no contact was made by non-Kosher spirits. Released after Passover each year, this Rye Recipe Bourbon is bold and independent, celebrating its heritage from America’s oldest continually-operating distillery.
